In Matthew 13:43 the over comers are likened to the sun shining forth in the kingdom of their Father. The sun rises afresh every morning. Beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. (Jude 20–21) How remarkable that we are charged to keep ourselves in the love of God. Of all God’s perfections, why highlight his love? When encouraging fellow Christians to persevere in the faith, why not pinpoint his justice or his patience, or even his mercy? We dare not ignore Jude’s charge or minimize the Father’s love.......
